BBC Children in Need Workshop

Radio News Flash show – 12th July 2010
Aimee Wilson – Youth Media Co-ordinator

Children from St Philips primary school & Stoneyholme primary school were invited by Pendle Community Radio to record a Radio News Flash show. This workshop was organised by Aimee Wilson our Youth Media Co-ordinator.

Preparing to present

The schools previously used to promote a Self Care skills course which is delivered by Uzma Batti from the NHS. As part of the recordings for the show music was used to set the scene for each news report. Besides the task of recording a show the workshop also provided an opportunity for the children to learn new skills within radio production and presenting. Furthermore the pupils gained transferable personal skills in communicating and working effectively in teams and thinking creatively. The workshop also complimented the schools national literacy strategy.
